Trust is one of the two foundation blocks of consensus process. (humility being the other). When group members do not trust each other, then consensus process takes a lot of time, and sometimes can not be accomplished at all. I have found that it is a very good exercise to have the group brainstorm up actions which build trust, and actions which erode trust. Making people aware of the effects of their actions can have a lasting impact. Some groups that have done this have made a poster of it and hang it in their community center. This is called an indirect intervention, which you can learn more about from my online consensus process book at Http://www.ic.org/nica/book/Cover.htm Rob Sandelin Sharingwood www.sharingwood.org --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
