Photovoltaic Solar Generation System Installation Workshop
presented by
Muir Commons / Cooperative Community Energy / Sine Electric

June 24-28, 2002, Davis, Ca

Muir Commons Homeowners Association in collaboration with Cooperative
Community Energy of San Rafael, CA and Sine Electric of Santa Rosa, CA
will be holding a hands-on, photovoltaic solar panel design and
installation workshop on June 24 through June 28, 2002 in Davis,
California. Workshop attendees will develop in-depth knowledge and
practical skills about solar power theory, system design and installation
practice through 5 days of classroom instruction and hands-on experience.
The 10kW (CEC-rated 9.6kw) solar electric system to be installed during
the workshop will make Muir Commons the largest residential producer of
solar energy in the City of Davis. The Muir Commons "Common House" serves
as the ideal venue for the workshop with its large presentation hall,
dining facilities, picturesque grounds and low-slope, south-facing roof.
The workshop is intended for anyone considering the installation of a
solar electric generation system at home or work. The only requirements
are a basic understanding of electricity and familiarity with the use of
hand tools. Participants should be able to climb ladders and feel
comfortable standing and walking on a one-story roof. This workshop offers
information and hands-on experience valuable for the homeowner as well as
the contractor considering a career venture into the rapidly expanding
field of solar energy system installation.

Tuition is $650.00 with discounts available for full payment with early
registration. The Muir Commons Homeowners Association offers additional
discounts for members of other CoHousing groups, cooperative housing
associations, non-profit housing developers, and homeowners associations
to be part of this event.

The workshop content is applicable to both residential and small
commercial installations anywhere in the United States. The workshop will
discuss the unique opportunities available to Californians through the
California Energy Commission's Renewable Energy Buydown Program. Three
experts in the field of solar energy will present the majority of the
workshop including Don Barch and Erin McMahon of Cooperative Community
Energy and Stephen Lyons of Sine Electric.

Workshop space is limited and slots will be filled on a first-come,
first-served basis. A non-refundable deposit of $150.00 must be received
within five days of receipt of your registration request in order to
reserve your slot in the workshop. Full payment must be received no later
than June 1, 2002 to receive the early registration discount, and late
registration will be accepted if there is space available up to the first
day of the workshop. Workshop tuition includes a detailed manual. The
workshop begins at 8:00 AM and ends at 5:00 PM each day. "brown-bag" lunch
will be provided each day. A limited number of CoHousing-sytle
"common-meal" dinners will be available for an additional cost.
