Advice on what works and what does not is interesting but I would
urge caution about writing off mainstream media publicity totally.
I can imagine that general articles about cohousing raise general
awareness that in turn may someday be helpful even if it does not yield
immediate prospects. Aren't there number for how many times a message has
to be heard to be acted on?

I guess what I'm suggesting is that even tho paid advertising in
mainstream media may not be worth it, free stories there may be worth it
to the cohousing movement in general.

The fact that there seems to be more cohousing in certain areas - Colorado
Seattle, San Francisco Bay area, and Mass. - would suggest that there is a
threshold of awareness phenomenon that makes any single effort eaier to
recruit for. If enough people are aware of cohousing, things are easier.
