Please join us at Muir Commons in Davis, California-the oldest successful American Cohousing Community-from October 3 -5. Kicking off the weekend on Friday, October 3 will be a two-hour slide show for people who are new to cohousing and who would benefit from more detailed knowledge on cohousing. The slide show, which gives an overview of the cohousing movement and the cohousing communities, and the extensive information on cohousing in the book, Cohousing: A Contemporary Approach to Housing Ourselves (deemed by the New York Times as "a bible for the cohousing movement"), is an inexpensive introduction and exposure to cohousing. Everyone, at all stages of exploration, is welcome to participate. On Saturday, October 4, there will be an extensive overview on organizing a cohousing community. Participants will learn from the lessons of other cohousing groups on developing realistic timelines, and on forming development groups. The afternoon sessions will concentrate on group process, agenda setting, and group facilitation. Participants will learn how to move from the initial steps of forming a group to the subsequent steps necessary for site acquisition. The final session will close with a discussion on critical components in successfully moving forward. This is the most comprehensive training day available to individuals and groups interested in building a cohousing community; we urge you to work within your community to get individuals to participate in this event and bring your questions and concerns to take full advantage of the combined experiences of those who have been involved in cohousing for many years. Provided that there are at least 10 participants on Sunday, October 5, a session will be held for those groups close to forming or who have recently formed. The day will be spent on group process with interaction and discussions amongst the groups and presenters regarding the intricacies of financing and forming as a group to develop the project. Please visit the website at http://www.cohousing.org for details and to register. _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L
