Hello all, Garden State Cohousing is a newly formed group in central New Jersey. We are actively looking for new neighbors, and looking forward to finding a town to live in. I recently attended a meeting held by the planning board for Somerset County NJ on Smart Growth. The executive director of the board suggested that we send to every township (specifically, the planning board and the mayor) in our desired area a brochure describing cohousing, and the specific benefits that Garden State Cohousing would have on their community. Based upon the replies received, we would 'target' the towns that gave us favorable replies. My question to the list serve, and the cohousing community at large is: Has anyone tried this approach toward picking a town to locate in? Did it work? I appreciate all replies!
