We recently sold our home [at Cantines Island; we're building another here: recently married, need more/different space] directly. Each party did retain an Attorney for paperwork. Had pleasant, easy closing..... enjoy yours, Ruth Hirsch In a message dated 10/8/03 1:02:34 PM, cohousing-l-request [at] cohousing.org writes: << Message: 4 Date: Tue, 7 Oct 2003 23:00:52 -0700 Cc: Coho-L <cohousing-l [at] cohousing.org> To: catya [at] homeport.org From: Marty Roberts <MartyR [at] sonic.net> Subject: [C-L]_green policies Reply-To: cohousing-l [at] cohousing.org Our whole property is organic. We are about to install solar electric panels for our common house. We try to make community meals as organic as possible. We recycle everything. Most of us compost our kitchen scraps. We grow organic vegetables. We conserve energy as much as possible and are installing low use light bulbs (fluorescent). I wish we could do more! I'm not sure what that means :) Does that include cleaning products people use in individual units, and that sort of thing? - catya --__--__-- Message: 6 Date: Wed, 8 Oct 2003 08:44:05 -0500 (CDT) From: Fred H Olson <fholson [at] cohousing.org> To: -cohousing-L mailing list <cohousing-l [at] cohousing.org> Subject: [C-L]_Steps to buy a house directly from owner (no realtor involved) Reply-To: cohousing-l [at] cohousing.org Veena Achar <veenaachar [at] hotmail.com> is the author of the message below. We are buying a unit from members who have lived there for the past two years. The current owners and we have agreed that it makes sense to handle the paperwork directly (since t hey want to sell to us and we want to buy from them and we have agreed on a price) Since we (both sides) are not going to use a realtor, my questions are -has anyone in cohousing done this before without using a realtor? -If so, what are the steps involved? -we have heard that maybe we need to hire a real estate lawyer to make sure that all paperwork gets done properly. If anyone can give us the name of such a lawyer that they have used, that would be very helpful -I checked online and there are sites that charge fees for some real estate forms, but I am not sure if thats all one needs to do, plus if there are seperate forms because the unit is part of a 'condominium' and if real estate forms are state-specific Any help/tips are appreciated! Thanks in advance ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------- Veena Achar (hoping to buy a unit in Pleasant Hill Cohousing, Pleasant Hill, CA) >> _______________________________________________ Cohousing-L mailing list Cohousing-L [at] cohousing.org Unsubscribe and other info: http://www.cohousing.org/cohousing-L
