Membership status when other purchases the home

Hi all, Juva here from CoHo in Corvallis. We are getting close to signing
our purchase agreements. I would like to find out how others have dealt
with membership status in the following situation:
We have 2 and possibly 3 homes that are being purchased for someone to live
in CoHo. The two we have currently will NOT have their names on the
title... as we have defined membership, the person purchasing will be the
member. BUT the folks who are going to live in CoHo and are currently the
active people (already community members in spirit). The parents/friends who
will be purchasing the home are not interested in becoming members
(attending the meetings and social activities required). We are thinking
some kind of proxy status. What have you all done in this situation?
Thanks, Juva

Subject: RE: [C-L]_ Associate Member Arrangements

In thirteen years of residence at Sharingwood this idea has come up three or
four times, basically everytime an adjacent neighbor inquires how they can
be more connected. At first we thought we would need some kind of formal
agreement, membership category, etc. What we discovered is that we do not. A
few neighbors from time to time get invitied to parties and dinners and come
hang out with us. However, nobody from outside has ever yet been consistent
enough to warrant the need for an associate membership process. Our
approach to many things at Sharingwood is sort of, wait and see if it really
happens, then organize if it needs it.
