Hi Joanie and all, This is Sylvie Kashdan of Jackson Place Cohousing in Seattle. On February 19, "Joani Blank" <joani [at] swansway.com> wrote: Subject: [C-L]_ Cohousing development slowing down? "Seattle may have gotten saturated with cohousing (all but 2 of the 9 in Washington are in or near Seattle). " Actually, I don't think that the desire for cohousing in the Seattle area or Washington State is slowing down. But, a lot of us have been taken up ...overwhelmed... with recent political issues, elections, budget and social program cuts, etc. .... Very recently, there have been a lot of people inquiring about possible places available in the Jackson Place cohousing community, both for rental and to buy. And there are a few groups in the Seattle area still working on developing new communities. They are facing both challenges related to financial issues and finding available properties to develop. Both costs and competition in getting city government approval for creating specific projects in specific places are involved. There are also a few new cohousing groups in other cities and outlying areas in Washington State that you will probably be soon hearing more about.
