Dear readers of Cohousing L,

If you are a member of a cohousing community seeking more residents or seeking to fill a waiting list, would you like to advertise in Communities magazine's special Cohousing issue, out in early July, 2005?

Communities magazine is a quarterly publication for people seeking more community in their lives and those who want to join a community, including cohousing communities. It is currently the only print publication in the Unites States regularly covering cohousing communities and the cohousing movement.

Guest Editors of our Cohousing issue are Raines Cohen, board member of the Cohousing Association of the U.S., and urban planner Betsy Morris. Betsy and Raines live at Berkeley Cohousing in the San Francisco Bay Area. Raines is also a member of Swan's Way Cohousing in Oakland.

Many cohousing communities have advertised with us in every issue until they sold all their units and had a waiting list.

Some of these have included Cascadia Cohousing, Colorado Springs Cohousing, Great Oak Cohousing, Liberty Village, Manzanita Village, Marsh Creek Commons, Mosaic Commons, Oak Creek Commons, Shadowlake Village, Sonora Cohousing, Stone Curves Cohousing, Sunward Cohousing, Touchstone Cohousing, Westwood Cohousing, Wild Sage Cohousing, and Yulupa Cohousing.

"We've gotten good results! Your readers are looking for what we offer."
--Elena Kann, Westwood Cohousing, Asheville, North Carolina

Ads cost less per time if you run it in two or four issues sequentially, with a Frequency Discount contract. Most cohousing communities have run ½ page or 1/3rd square ads (or 1/3rd vertical ads). Here are the sizes and prices of those sized ads:

("1x" means the cost for running the ad once. "2x" means the cost each time for running the ad twice. "4x" means the cost each time for running the ad four times.)

1/2 page (7-1/4" x 4-3/4") 1x - $150 2x - $142 4x - $132 1/3rd square (4-3/4" x 4-3/4") 1x - $88 2x - $84 4x - $77 1/3rd vertical (2-1/4" x 9-3/4) 1x - $88 2x - $84 4x - $77

If you'd like to advertise, please let me know by June 3rd. I'll mail you a sample copy if you like. Just ask. We'll need your ad art emailed to our layout manager, John Morris, by June 10th.
((Please don't email your ad art to me.)
John's email address is johnjeff [at] meadowdance.org.

CIRCULATION AND DEMOGRAPHICS
We print 3,000 copies of Communities magazine each quarter; 1,500 are subscriptions; the rest are newsstand and back-issue sales. Communities magazine can be found in most major health food chain stores (Real Foods, Whole Foods Alfalfa's, Earthfare, Greenlife), and by many worker-owned food co-ops. Communities is carried by all the major national magazine distributors and many regional ones. Most Communities readers are alternative, ecological folks--couples, families, or single people in their 40s, 50s. and 60s seeking more community in their lives, or seeking (or thinking about) a community to join.

For these latter formats (not PDF or TIFF) you must include all of the fonts in the artwork, both screen and postscript. When in doubt, always include any fonts!. Any images present in the artwork must be sent as an independent file, for Illustrator and Quark. Photos and graphics with any gray in them must be 300 dpi. If you're going to mail us hard copy, please fax it to us as communities [at] ic.org first so we can see what it looks like. Mail your camera-ready copy to John Morris, PO Box 247, Plainfield, VT 05667.
