I personally have never heard of any community breaking up over pets. I have heard of numerous communities that failed over conflicts. I have known of several people, including prospective members of my own community, Sharingwood, who have decided not to join a community because of their policies regarding pets. This is just selection at work, and any number of other group policies could form barriers to people joining. The largest single reason I know of communities breaking up are financial. It seems to me that fuzzy thinking about finances dooms most startup groups. I mentioned that I had read some research that one of the top 3 reasons that communities break-up is because of pets and/or a lack of a pet policy. Can the list here help me out and point me in the direction of any articles or research that I can forward on to this fellow that goes into more detail? Victoria L.
