I agree.  I think the best method would be as follows:

        - Technically minded cohousers develop applications as the need arises
and as they follow their muse.
        - Cohousers are encouraged to release their applications under an
open-source license
        - IT minded cohousers with good network and server skills create a
"cohousing site hosting" platforms to maintain for other cohousing
groups that don't want to deal with the IT and are willing to pay
someone to organize and service their sites
        - Cohousers wishing to tinker can pull together their own site from the
available tools.

But that's just me.
