At Swan's Market our rule about Common House Use
is that only owner's can sign up for it's use. If an
owner wishes to sponsor an "outside" group whether it
is one the owner belongs to or just wants to support;
that owner signing up is required to be responsible
for seeing that our rules re security, and
cleanliness, etc. are followed. Usually this requires
the presence of the owner who signed up during the
meeting or event, although we have several groups that
have been holding their meetings here for years and
know the drill well, so in that case we have on
occasion let them meet here even in the owner's
absence. Usually another owner who will be around is
designated as contact person in case of questions in
that case.
Problems that have come up in the past are, people
propping the gate open (not allowed) rather than
buzzing each person or group in; sticky table or floor
surfaces not cleaned up after the group, leftover food
thrown in our freezer unlabeled in any way (we require
a date and unit # on each item in the freezer). No
serious problems have occurred to date. Having an
owner be responsible in every case seems to have
limited problems sufficiently.
