complaining "On Line disinhibition effect" Cohousing-L Digest, Vol 45, Issue 27

When I read yesterdays's exchange my first impulse was to put the email
in my trash. I was uncomfortable with the energy in both the query and
with the responses.

But the exchange stayed with me. Even on this list sometimes people say
hurtful things and I am sure they don't always mean them to be hurtful.
While yesterday's exchange is not exactly flaming, it seems to share
some traits Flaming has a technical name, the “online disinhibition
effect,” which psychologists apply to the many ways people behave with
less restraint in cyberspace.
