some folks in our community give out bags of popcorn, apples, nuts, tattoos
and those fun colorful pencils.  I actually make brownies - hey they have
sugar, but they don't support the "candy industry" which is rather
nauseating.

Hi All!

Acceptable alternative for candy...   ORIENTAL TRADING!  A catalog of epic
amuonts of inexpensive toys.  orientaltrading.com

Zillions and zillions of what we used to call "penny toys."  Everything from
spider rings to colorful mini pads and pencils, tatooes, kush balls, gooey
things that boys especially love, things that light up, things that don't.
Terribly inexpensive.  And for those who don't like to buy imports ... the
owner of this company is an Asian American whose immigrant father sold this
kind of stuff to schools for fairs, etc.  The son turned the enterprise into
a HUGE success and he is one of the most appealing business owners on the
planet.  His business is stateside and he employs a lot of people right here
in the US that make his catalog a growing enterprise.

Personally ... I'm morally opposed to giving out candy at Halloween.
Actually ...  I'm just F_T and a candy addict and I not only don't want it
in my house after the big sugar-out I really don't want to contribute to
growing obesity among children and their parents who, like me, munch on the
massive quantities remaining in those paper bags -- or BUCKETS --  the kids
bring home.

And of course ... a harder sell to the kids ... there's always UNICEF sans
candy  -- let me know if you pull THAT one off!

So ... one or two alternatives!
