Santa Rosa Creek Commons is an intergenerational limited-equity
housing cooperative 60 miles north of San Francisco. Although
centrally located near public
transportation, we are in a secluded wooded area beside a creek on
two acres of land. We share ownership of the entire property and pay
monthly carrying
charges that cover the usual expenses of home ownership. Last year
we celebrated our 25th anniversary . We have kept costs reasonable
by sharing the management responsibilities of
our cooperative and much of its labor. We have 27 apartments
including 1,2, and 3 bedroom units. The three bedroom family units
are State Assisted Units and the
owner's monthly carrying charge is 25% of their income. We are
actively seeing families and couples (any combination of two people
sharing an apartment who are interested in
cooperative living, share our concern for the natural environment,
and have leadership capabilities .
Applicants are required to attend a monthly Board meeting, a committee meeting, a work day, and a social event among other requirements. What that means is it will be easier for western residents to fulfill these obligations which may be spread over an 18 month period.
