Re: Last California Cohousing Tour of 2008, October 25

Over the past week, I visited New Brighton Cohousing (Aptos), Tierra Nueva
(Oceano), and Oak Creek Commons (Paso Robles) - three of the more "Southern"
California cohousing communities. It was great meeting with and talking with
so many fine folks. I echo the sentiments expressed about hoping to see
cohousing spread to Southern California (proper).

Residents and founders of all three of these communities have taken the
Coho/US bus tours. It is very common for people who create and live in
cohousing to learn as much as they can before and during this rather
difficult work. People keep telling me how important the cohousing bus tours
have been to them. This is also why our conferences are so well received.

Some have made significant decisions about their community design and life
together based on what they learned about established communities. One
person told me seeing one community's kitchen completely changed the way
they thought about their design. Taking a bus tour is one great way to learn
a LOT, up close and personal - and fast.
