This is a public thank you to Mosaic Commons members Dwight, Stephanie, Judy, Beezee, Catya and Karen who were amazingly generous, open and helpful during our visit to their Open House on Sunday March 15. What a terrific community they and their architect Laura Fitch have created. If it weren't so far from where we live and work, some of our members would buy in now. Six members of the very new Westport Cohousing forming group came to their Open House, eager to learn more about and to see this soon-to-move-in community. We had made an appointment for after the tour to meet with Stephanie who is the lead person on the process for the eligibility for '40 B' units (40 B is a Massachusetts regulation to increase the availability of affordable housing for eligible 'moderate income' buyers). We plan to apply for the same comprehensive zoning permit that will allow our community to have more economically diverse members, as well as the clustered density we want. After the excellent overview introduction by Catya and Karen, Dwight and Judy offered to answer some questions before we toured. WOW! We learned so much that will ease our next months/years of development. What was most impressive to us was everyone's willingness to be helpful during this intense time of marketing and final construction details. We were humbled (and somewhat daunted) by what they have experienced and accomplished. Thank you all. We hope that we can pass it on, when the next forming group comes to us for assistance.
