The issue of affordability always runs against the NIMBY issues of quality and 
density.

 

Here's a detailed article about Massachusetts efforts to promote affordability 
vs. NIMBY challenges to density and design.  The projects seek to adapt Seattle 
style cottage clustering with increased density to make it more affordable (and 
profitable for the developer?)  Would it be any better as a cohousing 
possibility?
