Hi All, >From time to time, we get an email or call from somebody that does not understand what Cohousing is all about - sometimes they are REALLY excited until they learn that there are no communities near them. I was reminded of this by an email sent to "editor [at] cohousing.org" this morning. To help them get up-to-speed, I suggest they read some Cohousing.org pages, urge those who are really excited to try to visit a community, take a tour, or check out Coho-L. At the 2008 Conference (this past summer in Boston), we had a number of people attend who were brand new to Cohousing - mostly people looking for community and professionals, but there were also a few academics - one suggested that we have an introductory session before the main programming started and another complained about the amount of "inside lingo" such as common house, programming, etc. For the 2009 Conference in Seattle, the Conference team is responding to this issue by presenting (drum roll please): Cohousing 101 ($20) http://www.cohousing.org/2009/pcw/101 This Friday afternoon session is a low cost way that allow more people to participate. On Friday morning, there is also a FREE workshop: Incorporating Affordable Units into Urban Cohousing http://www.cohousing.org/2009/pcw/student Hope to see you in Seattle!
