I have heard more complaints from the 40+ unit cohousings. If you are very concerned about the size and want to keep costs down, you might set up 2 clusters that shared one common house. My memory of the optimal size discussion is that people in the 13-35 range seem the most satisfied about the size of their groups, but that many in very small or large cohousings were also perfectly happy with the set up they have.
