Our kids are expected to pick up after themselves. Young kids are usually with parents or other adults who help them or clean up after play. The 5 and older crowd pick up after themselves. However, all kids and especially the younger ones tend to sometimes forget so another parent who sees a mess, will call the parents of kids who forget or leave a note in their cubby. The kids then have to run back up to the Common House to clean up before the day ends or early the next morning. This doesn't always work, but generally does. All legos, games and toys with small pieces are kept in locked cabinets. The adults get those toys out for the kids and whoever does that has to make sure the toys are replaced in the cabinet and locked up by end of day. Sometimes the kids build elaborate tunnels and forts and the playroom looks a mess to a non-parent eye, but we let those creations stay until the kids tire of playing with them. The mopping, vacuuming, etc. of the playroom is done as a regular adult chore, which one person has taken on as her two-hour task for the month. Carol Oak Creek Commons, Paso Robles, CA
