I'm responding to your post about Kailash in Portland, Oregon.
Kailash is an active member of our Portland area cohousing group (called 
PDX-Plus Coho).
Our group has quarterly meetings (since 2009), rotating hosts among our 
communities,  and we maintain communication via a google group.

The core Portland area cohousing communities right now are Trillium Hollow, 
Cascadia Commons, Daybreak, Columbia Ecovillage, and Kailash.
Kailash is definitely a different model, and thanks to their dedicated founders 
and property owners, very successful in what they are doing.
More coho communities are in various stages of move-in, land purchases, and 
meeting/planning in the Portland area.  It's a happening place!
