A number of communities (f.ex Shepherd Village in Shepherdtown WV) are
exploring how they might be able to include a Greenhouse Project as part
of their community or adjacent to it. When a group is in the midst of trying to
develop their community, its nearly impossible to also take on
organizing a Greenhouse Project, so generally that would happen after they get
moved in. And generally, it seems that what they really need is
?provider??an organization that will take on developing, funding, and running
that specific project. The cohousing project may be able to
provide the land and volunteers, but that is likely all they can realistically
take on. Wondering if you, Mary, or anyone else, has
resources to find or connect communities to such resources?

Far and away, the most creative and resourceful cohousing Greenhouse Project I
have seen has been at Hundredfold Farm, Ortanna, PA;

HFF planned, design, permitted and developed an on-site wastewater treatment
plant combined with a greenhouse for year round plant raising from the
wastewater nutrients and solar energy.
As I recall, Bill Hartzell, a former President of Cohousing US, was one of the
firestarters of this community and an active participant in the
conceptualization and planning as well as the long term operation of this
project which was a key element in developing the feasibility of central
wastewater treatment that allowed clustering of the community rather than
multiple widely scattered septic systems.
