Room for rent in urban cohousing community, walking distance from downtown Seattle, Washington, for 7 months (October to April). Contact owner: Marjean Bafus Marjean800a [at] yahoo.com 206.354.8351 (cell) The sunny corner apartment is located in the common house of Jackson Place Cohousing. This is a great opportunity to participate in community life and transition to Seattle as a new resident. Unlike the typical anonymous condominium, cohousing offers a unique opportunity to know your neighbors, contribute in small ways to community life and enjoy cooperation for mutual benefit (borrowing common tools and equipment, creating spontaneous events and activities, casual conversation as you come and go). Owner will be away most of the month in Portland, with occasional monthly weekend visits, but she hopes that her new housemate will want to participate in community activities, including the meals program which typically prepares 3-4 meals per week. Rent $1,390 monthly includes: • 1 large sunny bedroom with alcove and large closet (approx. 190 sq. ft) • 1 shared bathroom with tub, newly renovated • Galley kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, stove with oven • 3 additional closets (1 large walk-in closet, utility closet and pantry) • Comfortable living room with sectional couch, dining room table with 4 barstool chairs and large screen television with quality sound system & Blu-ray player • 1 interior parking space Access to community amenities including: • Common House with large and small meeting spaces that can be reserved for private events if no scheduling conflict with the community calendar • Community laundry on site • Kids play room • Woodworking and dry crafts workshop Water, lights and Internet utilities will be paid by owner. Lower rent can be negotiated if interior parking space is not required by tenant. Recommend touring the community, meeting prospective neighbors, attending a community meal or team meeting before signing lease. A well-behaved dog would be welcome, but cats need not apply (owner is allergic – thanks for understanding). Additional insights about life in cohousing can be gleaned from our community’s website (http://www.seattlecohousing.org/) and from the national cohousing site: http://www.cohousing.org/ Contact owner: Marjean Bafus Marjean800a [at] yahoo.com 206.354.8351 (cell)
