Cohousing-L Mailing List: Sociocracy/Dynamic Governance: new study group curriculum with videos, readings and a coach

Hello everyone,

The non-profit Sociocracy For All (SoFA) has developed a new learning
format that will work well for cohousing. It is a curriculum to learn about
Sociocracy/Dynamic Governance in six 1.5h sessions. You will learn more or
less what we'd be teaching in a weekend workshop. The idea is that you do
it as a group of 3-8 people, not as individuals. You can either do it in
person (with a computer to play YouTube videos) or online (with zoom
conferencing) This is a particularly good program for forming cohousing
groups.

The entire content can be accessed without a login or payment: the videos,
the handouts, session plans, readings. The Sociocracy For All (SoFA)
non-profit asks for a donation after completing the curriculum. If you want
to get the best experience, we do recommend that you get a SoFA coach (most
likely Jennifer Rau, who developed the curriculum) at sliding scale total
cost of $110 and $120 covering all sessions. You would have a conversation
with your coach between the sessions with your group, where your coach
answers your questions, gives you pointers for your next session, and
offers you more perspective. It is the perfect combination of autonomous
learning circles, a well-thought out plan, and a coach for accountability
and to make sure your group gets the most out of the curriculum.

It has never been so easy, affordable and convenient to get your feet wet
in sociocracy, to train new members in an already sociocratic community or
to get a group of interested people trained. This format has been tested by
4 pilot groups (3 of them cohousing groups), and it has gone online and
public just now!

All is online and accessible. You can look at the videos, browse the
readings, check out the session plans, everything you want. There is an
entry-survey to prepare for your initial conversation with Jennifer from

me.) This is not restricted to cohousing groups, but cohousing was an
audience we had in mind when we developed this curriculum.
