The last 24 hours have been very stressful and scary for the entire region. New
fires continue to crop up - just got a Nixle alert about two more evacuations.
The air quality is horrendous and ALL of us have friends and family members who
have lost homes - over 3000 people in shelters just here in Sonoma County,
there are several other neighboring counties with similar issues.

The Sebastopol communities (Two Acre Wood, Sequoia Village, Petaluma Ave) are
nowhere near the fire. Here in Cotati, FrogSong is fine so far....there is fire
in the hills just to the East of us and some nearby neighborhoods have been
evacuated, so we have all prepared for evacuation if the situation changes -
cars are gassed up, packed, and parked facing out. Yulupa is fairly close to
some of the fires as well - closer than us actually - but is also not in a
current evacuation zone. Air quality is even worse for them. (I have not talked
to them but was up in that area earlier today).

We have several displaced folks staying here, and have contributed to some of
the shelters. Schools and many businesses are closed. Our two largest hospitals
were evacuated. We have power but much of the county doesn't. Many cell towers
are out so communications are wobbly. Most of us are staying hunkered down so
as to leave the roads free for first responders. Hard to focus on worj/jobs
that seem so unimportant in the grand scheme of things. So glad to be in
community during this unbelievable disaster.

Eris
