I've only skimmed the article so far but the quote above got my
attention and I got sidetracked investigating:

Is Commonspace cohousing? ( http://www.commonspace.io )

It's sort of an upbeat rooming house. An array of bedrooms with ensuites around a common kitchen and other facilities. I doubt the residents use their kichenettes for much more than breakfast and coffee.

I don't see anywhere on their site that they call it cohousing. And their spaces are rented furnished. But having lived in several rooming houses in my younger years I can confirm they do foster a kind of community. When you have to share so much in your daily life you need cooperation and collaboration.
