At Casa Verde a few years ago, we increased the condo assessments by $30 per month. Each household could then work it off at $15 per hour on some specific tasks: landscape, snow shoveling, weeding, cleaning, maintenance, etc. for no more than 24 hours per year. Members record hours worked on a posted chart. Once a year hours are totaled, and households receive a check--maximum amount is $360. Meeting attendance and committee work is not part of the program. Cooking and meal cleanup are not included, since every adult who participates in the meal program (about 1/3 to 1/2 of us) is required to help with cooking and cleaning. ------------------------- Dick Kohlhaas Member of Colorado Springs Cohousing Community at Casa Verde Commons 34 households on 4 acres 1.5 miles from center of city. www.casaverde.us
