We (Bay State Cohousing) are just finishing building a 30 unit condo in an
urban setting near Boston.  Total project cost almost $19 million
(originally hoped to be a $12 million project).  It's been a 9 year process
and we did have some permitting issues so spent twice as much on that as
planned. (we had two lawyers - a local in town person for permitting and a
general matters lawyer for everything else)

Total costs
$94,000 for legal
$97,000 for permitting.

Hello!

Greek Village Cohousing group just returned from our 3rd trip to the land
for design and other workshops.  We were so fortunate to have Raines and
Betsy join us.  We are enjoying the ride and moving forward at an exciting
pace.

We are currently working through our MOU in preparation for the formal
contract with the developers, and we have made some pioneering legal
ownership choices in order to qualify for subsidies.  We are now ready to
have our attorney go over the MOU we have negotiated and write up the
developer contracts to sign.   We are signing a retainer for these legal
services, and I would like to offer a fixed fee rather than per hour.

So- my question is- do any of the newer communities remember how much they
paid their attorneys in total?  No worries about whether it included the
filing fees, zoning permit, and other non contract work, just a total for
legal services start to finish is what I am after.
