The RCMP<https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms> defines firearms as
non-restricted, restricted, and
prohibited<https://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/en/firearms/classes-firearms>.

We use the term firearms and crossbows.

We have a separate policy for non-firearm/crossbow weapons:

  * Non-firearm/crossbow weapons include but are not limited to those which
can be used for ceremony, athletics, and martial arts.
     * Ceremony. Some objects are called weapons, but are not intended for
violent acts. For example, maces and swords. In some religions, members wear
ceremonial items. For example, some members of the Sikh religion wear a kirpan,
a small replica sword.
     * Athletics. Some sports equipment might be considered weaponry. For
example, for the sports of fencing and archery.
Martial arts. There are hundreds of different weapons used in the martial arts.
Some are used for fighting and others to practice self defense.

How does the policy define “weapons”?
