Here’s a chance to sample the cohousing life in the beautiful Pacific Northwest beginning January 2023! Just as we got the green light to move into our gorgeous new cohousing community in Anacortes, Washington, I was offered some irresistible travel opportunities between January and September 2023. I hope to find someone to either sublet or join me as a housemate for all or part of that time. My mountain view “flat” is 3BR/2BA, 1162 sf on a single level with elevator access. It will be mostly furnished and comes complete with a low-key cat who would need to be looked after while I am away (about 4 months total out of the Jan.-Sept. period). I have wonderful neighbors in this 30-home community who would help with cat care if you want to take advantage of short adventures nearby (San Juan Islands, Seattle, Vancouver BC, Skagit Valley birdwatching, skiing, camping, hiking, boating). Of course, the many amenities and work opportunities at Skagit Commons would be yours to enjoy, including community meals, social activities, gardening, a craft room, wood shop, and free laundry facilities. For a *housemate*, the rent is $1200 per month (negotiable, depending on the duration of your commitment). You’d have a 12x10 unfurnished bedroom and your own bathroom. We would share a spacious kitchen/great room, and I would cover all utilities + high speed internet. I’m female and retired but would be happy to consider anyone who appreciates cats but is pet-less, is dependable, and doesn’t smoke. For a *sublet*, the rent is $2400 per month, utilities included. The minimum rental period is 3 months. I would use the 3rd bedroom for storage, so you’re actually renting a 2BR/2BA flat—plenty of space for 1-3 people without pets of their own. Because of the cat, the rent is discounted from the $2800 other tenants pay for comparable units. If you don't like cats, let's talk anyway.
