I am pleased to announce we have an engaging and provocative guest speaker for our next International Cohousing Carshare Group gathering. Anyone interested in transit issues should be sure to attend. Peter Bennett Presents TDM Saturday, November 18th 1PM EST, 12PM CST, 11AM MST, 10AM PST Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85667583726 Meeting ID: 856 6758 3726 Topic: What does Car Sharing have to do with Transportation Demand Management? Transportation Demand Management (TDM) is a subdivision of urban planning that focuses on encouraging and discouraging people's transportation choices. Strategies include offering incentives, adding new amenities, and adjusting permit fees for property development. Some examples include providing transit passes, or not providing free parking. It's been used by individual employers and residential buildings, but also cities and regions. In this talk, we'll review examples of TDM strategies, and discuss how car sharing fits. Existing TDM programs, or proposing to start one, may be a path towards establishing or growing car sharing. Bio: Peter Bennett is a transportation planner with the City of Minneapolis Public Works Department. Previously, he has worked on bicycle and pedestrian projects and advocacy in San José, CA and New Orleans, LA. Peter recently spent a year biking through South America with the objective of learning more about multimodal cities and towns, crossing incredible landscapes along the way. Some of the planning insights from this trip are shared here <https://www.peterispedaling.com/portfolio/south-america-transport-and-urbanism-blog> .
