Here at River Song we just finished our first year of gardening. We have a small garden/landscape committee that handles 98% of the work. Last year we bit off more than we could chew with such a small group. (Who knew the Willamette Valley was so incredibly fertile?) Be aware that most people love to look at gardens and enjoy the produce and flowers but few actually want to work in them. We started with 4 raised beds in back and 2 vegetable plots in front.
