Hello everyone! This is a topic we've begun talking about in our admin
committee, and others outside the committee are thinking it about also. There
was a short discussion in September about this. What are other folks around the
country doing with the Beneficial Ownership Info requirement from the Dept of
Treasury?

Hi John:
our community, Cascadia commons, belongs to the CAI and we found out through
them many months ago that this is a new law we have to comply with. there are
legal challenges being mounted to exempt hoa's and so far, it has not been
successful. We are collecting the information; a copy of your driver's license
contains all information needed and we will be filling shortly,
Through the grapevine, heard that this was discussed at the cohousing
conference and had hope that the association would put out a statement,
informing communities about it. I wrote to them and heard nothing back.
Our community is structured with all homeowners being on the board of
directors. We sought legal advice from our attorneys and were advised that all
board members need to provide this information. Our attorneys specialize in
condo law, and they put on a webinar about the CTA. I would urge all
communities to join the CAI( Community Association Institute) to stay abreast
of changes in the law.
Needless to say, there is unhappiness among members about complying with this
law.
