Are you referring to a one-time fee for someone to become an explorer for three 
months or whatever? If so, I wouldn't consider writing a check (or getting a 
money order, or paying cash) to be a barrier. A minor inconvenience, maybe. But 
someone who can't manage to use an old-school payment method once in a while 
doesn't seem like a great candidate. Also, you'd probably want receiving the 
explorer payment to be an in-person welcome process, signing agreements, etc.

If you're talking about regular monthly dues, I think you do need an online 
payment option. I'd be really annoyed to have to send in a check every month.

Hello
We use WIX to host our website.  We are exploring an eCommerce upgrade to
collect Explorer payments directly on our website to reduce a barrier to
becoming an Explorer with us.

We would appreciate feedback, especially from others whose sites are hosted
by WIX, about this approach to making it easier for people to become
Explorers.

We are a forming community, with a site identified and in the process of
getting it under contract.
