Our five-week class, Sociocracy for Communities, Part One, starts this
Saturday, January 4. Times are 10 am -12:30 pm Pacific Time and 1:00-3:30
Eastern; starting time 11am Mountain Time and 12 noon in Central Time. The
cost is $175-$250  sliding scale with 20% discounts for groups of five or
more from the same community.

Part One, Jan 4 - Feb 1, covers the two most important Sociocracy meeting
processes: Proposal Forming and Consent Decision-Making, the latter being
like consensus in that its purpose is to be fair, equivalent and
transparent, but without the downsides of consensus -- as there is no
blocking. There are objections, however, these are concerns and are meant
to be resolved before consenting to the proposal.

Our Part One class also demonstrates the importance of using
Evaluation Questions in a proposal in order to see if the proposal, once
they're implemented, has resolved the issue and is working well. If not,
it's "built in" to the group's expectations in Sociocracy that it can be
modified later so it *will *work better for the group.  This tends to
reduce stress and potential conflict in meetings and helps people feel more
relaxed and confident in meetings. In this way using Sociocracy can reduce
some kinds of community conflict.  We also cover how to organize effective
meetings, with well-planned agendas and clear, effective, good-will
facilitation.  Sociocracy for Communities, Part Two, also five weeks,
begins Feb 22,and covers all the rest of Sociocracy: Selecting People for
Roles, Role-Improvement Feedback, Consenting to Circle Members, and
Sociocracy's unique Circle Structure.
