Hi everyone, Next week we have a packed schedule with two educational programs. First, on Tuesday, September 23 at 4pm MDT, Pedro Silva, Director of Engagement with YOUnify, will be leading a session titled Slowing Down to Speed up. In this 60-minute workshop, participants will explore the concept of intentionally slowing down in the short-term to build stronger, more cohesive communities. By embracing patience and deliberate action, community members can create deeper connections, trust, and shared understanding. These foundations enable the group to move more effectively and efficiently together in the long term. Through interactive discussions and practical exercises, attendees will learn how to cultivate social cohesion that leads to sustainable, collective progress. Pedro brings a wealth of cross-sector experience focused on building civic and community engagement. He has graciously offered an extra 30 minutes of his time so while the formal session will be an hour, Pedro will stick around after the session to lead additional practice exercises and/or answer any questions. If you’ve lived in community, odds are good that you’ve sat through meetings where one or more other members talked longer than you thought they should, possibly off topic, and in a way that just wasn’t helpful. In this session we’ll talk about why this happens and how to address it. We’ll cover facilitation methods that can greatly reduce the problem without shutting out or putting down the more verbose members of your community. Register here to join us: <https://cohousinginstitute.org/product/community-conundrums-people-who-talk/> https://cohousinginstitute.org/product/community-conundrums-people-who-talk/ — Both of next week’s sessions will be free for CohoUS members or $30 for non-members.
