When communities try to start or reinvigorate a common meals program, a big thing that stalls them out is recipes. Nobody wants to be the one guessing what will feed 20-40 people, work with mixed diets, and not take all day to cook or all evening to clean up after. Many communities have already figured that out. Our intention is for this cookbook to collect those solutions in one place so other communities don't have to start from scratch, scale recipes, etc. What we're asking: 1-3 recipes your community actually makes for shared meals, plus a couple sentences on why it works (scales easily, cheap, freezer-friendly, kid-approved, etc.). Hopefully It will take less time to submit than it took to cook the dish! Photos are welcome! There's no payment for this — it's a volunteer, community-to-community effort — but you'll be credited by name in the cookbook, and you'll get a digital copy of the finished book once it's done, full of ideas from other communities too. Submit to drhstrand [at] yahoo.com by 18 October if possible. I’m happy to answer any questions & thanks for considering. Kind regards,Heidi Strand, Haystack Heights, Spokane, WA
