Review: A Neighborhood for the 90's
 
An article entitled "A Neighborhood for the 90's" by Andrew Nelson
appears in the Jan-Feb 1993 issue of the periodical Special Report.
Special Report is a slick magazine that is placed in Medical Office
waiting rooms - Group Health in the Twin Cities has it for example.
 
The 3 page article discusses Cohousing in a suportive but objective
way using the Winslow Cohousing Group on Bainbridge Island for
specific examples.  Photos are more of people than of the
architecture.  It does present enough specifics about Winslow
to be of interest to those already familiar with Cohousing as well
as being an introduction to the idea.  The article is one of three
about housing alternatives (the others being "self built" and "small
town").  The editors introduction to the articles refers to cohousing
as "an upscale kibbutz".  I've asked this before but will again;
Is there anything in the U.S. that is self-described as a kibbutz?
