I have been receiving CoHousing-L for a couple of days now and have seen
12 postings in that time. I'm quite impressed with the participation (my
background in computer assisted communications is mainly in FidoNet - a
high signal/noise ratio) but I'm disturbed by one thing: It is very hard
in almost all messages to determine who is speaking. In over half the
messages there is no reference to a name, in half of the rest the
reference is a first name and, in the rest, there is a signature block
at the end of the message with full particulars.
I find it difficult to follow these conversations with no names
attached.
It may be that I am receiving less than the full header of the postings
because of the gating through which I receive the messages (UseNet -> a
PCBoard system -> a QWK packet offline reader).
I'm wondering if anyone else shares my problem (and my uneasiness)?
Thanks. Jake.Morrison [at] Synapse.org
