ENVIRONMENTAL INTERNSHIP/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
***Learn First-hand about the Fastest-Growing Segment
of the U.S. Environmental Movement***
Organization: Land Trust Alliance
Title: Survey Intern
Committed grassroots environmentalists throughout the country are
working with land trusts to quietly but steadily take back our forests and
farmland, our increasingly threatened places of natural beauty, from the
relentless drive of development. Land trusts are nonprofit organizations
involved in protecting land for its natural, recreational, scenic, historical
or productive value. By their direct involvement land trusts insure that
such protection is permanent.
The Land Trust Alliance, the national organization of land trusts,
is conducting a national survey to gain a comprehensive picture of the growth
and development of land trusts across the country.
We need 2 interested and enthusiastic interns to help make our
survey successful. Work will include preparation of survey mailings and
follow-up telephone interviews with land trusts throughout the country.
Depending on their interests, interns will also have the opportunity to
research and produce up-to-date information packet(s) on a variety of land
conservation subjects, and respond to information requests from the land
trust community.
This internship will provide a unique chance to gain experience
with conducting survey research work, as well as to learn, through direct
interaction with land trusts, about the vast range of projects to save
land for future generations.
Qualifications: Degree work in an environment-related discipline or
interest in land conservation. Attentive to details. Ability to work
independently and with others. Experience with survey and/or telephone
interview work a plus.
Salary: Volunteer position providing excellent hands-on experience at the
front line of the land trust movement. Appreciation abundantly and
genuinely lavished.
Dates of position: Project ongoing from April to October 1994.
Interns able to work 15-20 per week from May through September are
desired.
