BCN and TCC

Thanks, Diane and Judy, for your replies.
I don't have a facility on this system to easily pull blocks of text from
one file into another, so I will reply by memory.
I have some comments on the Boston Cohousing Network that may be of general
interest, so I will reply to the group instead of Diane alone. BCN shuts down
during the summer (at least as far as having meetings), but will start up
again this fall. They have meetings every other month (sometimes monthly) on
Sunday evenings at the YWCA in Central Square in Cambridge. They start with
pot-luck food (which may or may not be enough to make a meal on), then the
chairperson speaks briefly, we have a speaker, then reps from most of the
local cohousing groups give brief updates, and we have a social period. The
chairperson is Stella Tarnay. I don't have her phone number handy, but can
find it if anyone is interested.
BCN covers, roughly, all cohousing within 50 miles of Boston. It is the
most valuable resource I have found for keeping up with what is happening
locally. Another valuable local resource is The Cohousing Center (formerly the
Center for Collaborative Communities), a consulting group in Watertown, MA.
They started out doing mainly architecture but now cover almost everything
involved in cohousing. The service they provide is invaluable and having them
here is one of the things that makes Greater Boston a good place to do co-
housing. Among other things, they keep a list of local people who are inter-
ested in cohousing and periodically start up new groups based on this list,
as well as guiding people to existing groups.
