Cohousing-L Mailing List: Desirability of proximity to Common House

Hi! We're Maria & Ray Gasser, members of the EcoVillage at Ithaca group since 
its founding about 3 years ago. We've just gotten back our architect's plans
and the group is going through the house selection process.

Our neighborhood is shaped like this:

>From the CH to the last house is about 400 feet.  We're in upstate New York,
so winter weather is pretty cold & snowy. We're trying to decide whether
people with some experience (you folks who are already living in CH 
communities) have feelings on what it's like to be either near or far 
from the Common House.


What's your experience on noise, privacy, weather problems, children, etc.,
as regards having a house near or far?
