Ecovillage also has a wide range in economic stature, from a couple just out of college to active and retired doctors. Wealth seems to be making little difference in the social structure. House size selection has been more based on need than on ability to pay, except in some cases where people are buying somewhat more house than they need to avoid capital gains. And one couple with 4 kids is squeezing into a house that will be tight for them, even though they could probably afford to customize into a larger house with mode bedrooms. People here, and presumeably at other CH communities are valued based on the contribution they make to the community, and nobody seems to be skimping with that.
