Just a quick comment.  We (Monterey Cohousing) are at the top of a hill.  Once
upon a time, we are told, the lawn sloped all the way down to the busy 4 lane
street - it is  major street.  About 25 or so years ago the owners sold off the
land at the bottom of the hill -  there is now a large apartment building, with
mostly senior residents.  And we don't hear the traffic at all.  I don't know
about them, of course.
