At Doyle St. we have every adult cooking once and assisting once in every "rotation". A rotation lasts as many meals as there are people to cook. Since we do three meals per week and have seventeen adults our rotation is five and a half weeks long. Some people eat almost every common dinner, occaisionally a person eats only the two meals where he/she is cooking and assisting and maybe one or two others. People who come to live here understand that they are expected to do an equal share of the cooking even if they eat common meals infrequently. Joani Blank Doyle St. CoHousing, Emeryville, CA
