Well Russ, What you describe below: >I know few people who covet close personal relationships more than I, but >thrice-weekly get togethers with a few good friends, frequent dinner parties, >a front porch from which to hail neighbors (when I WANT to) and friendly >encounters at a nearby park are plenty of community for me. Otherwise, the >privacy of my detached family dwelling provides my freedom of both time and >space. is Cohousing. There are folks at Sharingwood who come to the parties, don't particpate in dinner and only make occaisional meetings when there is something on the agenda that they are interested in. Other wise I see them less than some of my relatives. This is the most private side of Cohousing, and at Sharingwood, that works fine. Other communities have different levels of expectations I suppose, but I have heard of some very private folks at both Winslow and Nyland so I would suspect that there is lots of opportunity for privacy once you have the site built and running which takes a couple years. Rob Sandelin Sharingwood.
