I would be cautious about expectations of everyone eating common meals. In my experience and observation, there seems to be a percentage which find common meals are not attractive and therefor they choose not to attend, or attend only sporadically. In theory, common meals sound lovely. In reality they can be less than ideal, especially for parents with small kids or kids who are picky eaters, or elders, or people who have specific schedules or eating habits. My observation from previous posts and other contacts is that participation in group dinners runs 40-70% on average. So I would allow for enough kitchen appliance space to be independent of community meals.
