Although not listed as a co-author of The Straw Bale House book in the
Science News ad, I am and thought I'd mention that the book is also available
directly from me for $0.50 more and that includes first class/priority
postage (in the US) and I'll be happy to inscribe/autograph it as well.  To
fill out the description a bit, the book has 16 pages of color photos, 220
black and white photos, 40 illustrations, and covers everything from history
through modern houses, foundations through finishes.  It is written with a
concern about material choices, the environment, community issues, access to
information and owner-builder friendliness.

I hope this is not an uncool posting.  Anyone interested in this book, or in
obtaining a 27 page working paper entitled Straw Bale Construction and the

I continue to monitor this list and appreciate the amount of PROCESS that
occurs here.  In case any one is interested, there is a straw bale mailing

are other web pages on straw bale construction which are linked. If

interest, I'll post the info to the whole list.  For additional info on straw
bale construction, check out the May issue of Home Magazine and the April
(article called The New Adobes about Rammed Earth, PISE, and Straw Bale) and
May (Review of The Straw Bale House book in the Changing Western Home
section) issues of Sunset Magazine (for those in the west).   It was great to
meet fellow list member Eric Hart at  the HOPES Eco-Design conference in
Eugene, Oregon last week.  Keep up the excellent work you are all doing.
