Diane * Quantity surveyors/project managers are found in the yellows pages in large centers under Surveyors-Quantity in Canada and in the USA under Cost Engineers-- in Canada the association is the Canadian Institute for Quantity Surveyors and in the USA its the American Assoc. of Cost Engineers. --there are also international associations. In a small centre, a consulting engineering firm might have qualified quantity surveyors/project managers on staff. * Quantity surveyors/project managers can be hired by the hour; but typically work for a set fee for the project. * These folks have university or college degrees in Cost Engineering or Quantity Surveying. In addition, (in Canada) they have to write an entrance exam after they graduate--as well there is a test to professional experience whereby for two years they must keep a log of all their work and then write an exam on material takeoff, scheduling, and construction law. - sent via an evaluation copy of BulkRate (unregistered).
